Man Utd fan charged over racist taunts

A Manchester United supporter has been charged by police for allegedly shouting racist abuse during a Premier League match between the English champions and Stoke City.

Police were informed of the incident during United's 2-0 win over the Potters on Tuesday and arrested a man named Howard Hobson.

The Manchester resident has now been charged with a racially-aggravated public order offence and using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Hobson, who is due to appear at Trafford Magistrates' Court next Wednesday, was accused of shouting racist abuse towards Stoke players during the match.
