Joachim Low: 'Bastian Schweinsteiger will shine for Manchester United'

Germany boss Joachim Low expects midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger to hit the ground running for Manchester United.

Germany boss Joachim Low has tipped Manchester United-bound Bastian Schweinsteiger to prove himself successful at Old Trafford.

Earlier today Bayern Munich confirmed that they had reached an agreement with the Red Devils over a reported £14m switch.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher claimed that the 30-year-old was past his best, but Low says that Schweinsteiger - who played under Louis van Gaal for Bayern - will hit the ground running in England.

"Basti is an absolute leader and a world-class player who can put his stamp on any team, including of course Manchester United," Low told reporters of Schweinsteiger, who helped Die Mannschaaft to World Cup glory 12 months ago.

"He knows Louis van Gaal, who wanted him. These are good conditions.

"I know that he still has big ambitions and goals. He will face the new challenge in England as we all know, with dedication and highly-motivated."

The midfielder is expected to sign a three-year deal at the Theatre of Dreams.
