Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: 'We need to be humble in matches'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that his team need to be "humble" during matches in order to succeed.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that his players need to be "humble" if they want to continue their impressive run this season.

The Red Devils are yet to find themselves on the end of a defeat this term, having won seven and drawn one of their fixtures in all competitions so far.

As it stands, Mourinho and his men sit second in the Premier League table and they also passed their first tests in the EFL Cup and Champions League.

Ahead of this evening's Group A match against CSKA Moscow in Russia, Mourinho has revealed that staying "humble" on the pitch is helping the team win games.

The former Chelsea boss used last weekend's 1-0 win over Southampton at St Mary's as an example.

"We cannot guarantee this line of success but the way to try to keep it is to do what we are doing," Mourinho told reporters. "We try to play well and in some moments of the match of the opponent has moments of superiority we have to be humble like we were against Southampton and to cope with the difficult moments of the game.

"Looking at the match at Southampton on TV, with time, I think there is an episode in the first half that could transform the game in an easy game because we were winning 1-0 when that happened.

"We could be in control and win the game easily. But then in the second half we had to be humble, we had to accept that the opponent was high and we had to fight hard.

"I think it's a mixture of our quality and being dominant and like we want to be always but accepting the reality of high level football. When the opponent has a strong moment, you have to cope with it."

United currently have the second best attack in the league after scoring 17 goals in six games.
