Odion Ighalo says that Mason Greenwood is developing similar playing traits to former Manchester United forward Robin van Persie.

Odion Ighalo has heaped praise on Mason Greenwood, claiming that his Manchester United teammate is showing similar attributes to Robin van Persie.

The Dutchman enjoyed an excellent period in the Premier League, contributing 144 goals and 65 assists from his 280 appearances in English football.

Despite Greenwood only being 18 years of age, the prospect is being tipped to develop into a player of the same mould as the former United and Arsenal man.

Speaking to the club's official website, Ighalo said: "I will start with Greenwood. He's a very good player.

"I think I used to see with my eyes he's looking like Robin van Persie. He can shoot with both feet, he's a very intelligent player, young and is not afraid."

Greenwood has contributed 12 goals from 15 starts and 20 substitute outings this season.
