Javier Hernandez's omission from the Manchester United squad leads to speculation over his future at Old Trafford.

The future of Javier Hernandez as a Manchester United player has been thrown into doubt following his omission from the squad to face Everton tonight.

Chelsea and Arsenal had both been credited with an interest in the Mexican striker following the arrival of Robin van Persie at Old Trafford last week.

Sir Alex Ferguson has recently stressed that Hernandez was part of his plans for the forthcoming season.

However, the manager opted to leave out the 24-year-old for the trip to Goodison Park, explaining to Sky Sports News that he wanted extra defensive cover on the bench.

That has led to increased speculation surrounding Hernandez's future, with the transfer window due to close at the end of the month.
