Dean Henderson has reportedly told Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he wants to be the club's number one goalkeeper during the 2020-21 campaign.
The 23-year-old has spent the last two seasons loan at Sheffield United, but the Blades appear to be preparing for life after the Englishman as they target Bournemouth's Aaron Ramsdale.
As it stands, Henderson is due to return to Old Trafford this summer, but David de Gea's presence means that it is unclear where the club's academy product stands ahead of the new season.
According to the Daily Mail, United want Henderson to spend another 12 months on loan before potentially taking on the number one spot during the 2021-22 campaign.
However, the report claims that the former England Under-21 international has demanded that he is chosen as United's first-choice stopper next term.
De Gea has struggled to show consistency over the last 12 months or so and made some high-profile mistakes in the latter stages of his side's latest domestic season.
