Henning Berg expects Manchester United signings

Former Manchester United defender Henning Berg believes that new manager David Moyes will need to make a number of signings this summer.

Former Manchester United defender Henning Berg has predicted that new manager David Moyes will make a number of changes to the club's playing staff this summer.

Moyes will take over from Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford on July 1 after the Scot called time on his 26-year spell at the club.

Berg believes that Moyes will need to add a few players during the summer transfer window, including bringing in a replacement for Paul Scholes, who also announced his retirement at the end of last season.

"There need to be additions and of course there will be a few changes to the playing staff because Sir Alex Ferguson would have been doing that anyway, even after they won the league, because you are looking to improve," said Berg.

"I think there will be additions and in central midfield, with Paul Scholes retiring, looks like where they will be looking to improve."

Berg joined Manchester United in 1997 and won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the Champions League during his four-year stint at the club.
