McTominay, Fernandes cleared to face Atletico but Shaw a doubt

Manchester United will have both Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes available for Tuesday's Champions League last-16 second leg with Atletico Madrid.

McTominay missed out against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday due to a calf problem, while Fernandes was unavailable for selection after testing positive for COVID-19.

However, both players will be able to take on Atletico in the second leg of their last-16 European contest on Tuesday evening, interim head coach Ralf Rangnick confirmed at his pre-match press conference.

Luke Shaw has also returned to training after recently testing positive for COVID-19, but the England international remains a slight doubt for the clash with the La Liga outfit.

"As it is right now, we have all the players available for the game tomorrow. There is a small question mark behind Luke Shaw," Rangnick told reporters. "He has been training yesterday and today but we have to wait to see if he is fully fit to be available for the game.

"All the other players are back in training and ready for tomorrow... he (Fernandes) tested negative yesterday and that's the reason why he could train today."

Anthony Elanga netted a late equaliser for Man United in the first leg, cancelling out an early header from Joao Felix, leaving the tie delicately poised at 1-1 ahead of the return game.
