Half-Time Report: Steve Sidwell puts Fulham ahead at Old Trafford

Fulham are beating Manchester United at half time in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Fulham are beating Manchester United at half time in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford, thanks to Steve Sidwell's volley.

The home side had plenty of possession in the early stages, as Ashley Young curled over a menacing-looking cross that was dealt with by Dan Burn. Sascha Riether also denied Robin van Persie with a sliding tackle.

However, it was relegation-threatened Fulham who broke the deadlock. Lewis Holtby floated the ball to Sidwell, who side-footed home on the volley.

United had a chance to equalise as Van Persie got free at the back post, but he volleyed over from a tight angle.

Juan Mata then delivered a ball to the back post where Patrice Evra's header back across goal was palmed out by Maarten Stekelenburg.

Fulham almost doubled their lead before the break. Muamer Tankovic did well to hold up the play until Kieran Richardson arrived down the left. The former United man had just David de Gea to beat from close range, but he lifted his shot over the goalkeeper and the crossbar.

Stekelenburg then kept out Michael Carrick's shot before Van Persie saw his follow-up cleared off the line.
