Cristiano Ronaldo's 500 goals: The milestones

As Cristiano Ronaldo reaches 500 goals for club and country, Sports Mole looks back on his milestone strikes.

Last night at the age of just 30, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the 500th goal of his career for club and country.

He scored his first as a gangly teenager in the colours of Sporting Lisbon, before going on to find the net on a regular basis for Manchester United, Real Madrid and the Portugal national side.

Here, Sports Mole has looked back on each of his milestone goals en route to the 500 landmark.

Goal 1 - Moreirense (October 2002)

Having excelled in the Sporting academy, Ronaldo was hoisted in for his senior debut at the age of just 17. He marked the occasion by scoring twice in a 3-0 win, the first of which saw him embark on a neat dribble before he shot low across the advancing goalkeeper.

Goal 100 - Tottenham Hotspur (January 2008)

Robbie Keane had given visiting Spurs a 1-0 half-time lead in this FA Cup tie at Old Trafford, but two goals from Ronaldo - the 99th and 100th of his career - helped United to recover in the second half. His first was from the penalty spot, while the one that brought up three figures squirmed in underneath the body of visiting goalkeeper Radek Cerny.

Goal 200 - Valencia (December 2010)

As he so often did during their stint together at the Bernabeu, Mesut Ozil laid this chance on a plate for Ronaldo. The German playmaker threaded a pass through for the onside Portuguese attacker, who fired the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Goal 300 - Granada (May 2012)

Ronaldo rarely misses from the penalty spot, although United fans are bound to remember his failure from 12 yards during the Champions League final shootout against Chelsea. There was no such problem on this occasion against Granada, though, as he drew Madrid level by sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Goal 400 - Celta Vigo (January 2014)

It was somewhat fitting that on a day when one of Portugal's most famous ever footballers - Eusebio - was laid to rest, Ronaldo scored the 400th goal of his career. He already had one to his name against Vigo when substitute Gareth Bale picked him out with a low cross to add his second goal of the game at the near post. After the final whistle, Ronaldo dedicated his milestone goal to his fellow countryman.

Goal 500 - Molde (September 2015)

On a night when he had Raul's club goalscoring record firmly in his sight, Ronaldo brought up the 500 in the first half of this Champions League encounter in Sweden. Playmaker Isco capitalised on a defensive error to play in Ronaldo, who showed good composure to find the bottom corner of the net.
