Team News: Wayne Rooney absent for Manchester United

Wayne Rooney is not in the Manchester United squad for this afternoon's FA Cup tie at Liverpool because of an ankle injury.

As a result, Danny Welbeck will play as a lone striker for visiting United, while captain Patrice Evra starts the match despite his recent racism case with Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Hosts Liverpool have handed a start to Andy Carroll up front, with Jamie Carragher coming in as part of three-man defence.
