Rio Ferdinand escapes Football Association action

The Football Association decides not to punish Rio Ferdinand for tripping up Fernando Torres.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand will not be punished by the Football Association for his actions during Sunday's 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The United centre-back appeared to deliberately trip up Chelsea striker Fernando Torres before picking up the Spanish international.

However, having reviewed the incident, the governing body has decided not to take it any further.
