Rooney left out of Man United squad

Skipper Wayne Rooney has been left out of the Manchester United squad for Thursday's Europa League clash with Feyenoord.

The 30-year-old, whose performances have been questioned this season, has not been included in Jose Mourinho's 20-man travelling squad for the Group A match in Rotterdam on Thursday night.

Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw have also been rested, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan misses out through injury after aggravating a thigh problem in the Manchester derby at the weekend.

There are spots for Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Memphis Depay and Marcos Rojo as Mourinho prepares to ring the changes ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash with Watford, but out-of-favour centre-back Phil Jones has not been selected

Mourinho has already confirmed that Marcus Rashford will start the European tie, meaning that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is Man United's leading scorer this season, is expected to be named on the bench.

Full squad

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Romero, Johnstone

Defenders: Darmian, Bailly, Blind, Fosu-Mensah, Rojo, Smalling

Midfielders: Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, Mata, Pogba, Schneiderlin, Young

Forwards: Memphis, Ibrahimovic, Martial, Rashford
