Swansea City 'face competition from Besiktas for Wilfried Bony'

Turkish champions Besiktas reportedly join Swansea City in the race to sign Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony this summer.

Swansea City will reportedly face competition from Turkish outfit Besiktas in their bid to re-sign Wilfried Bony from Manchester City this summer.

The Swans are understood to be weighing up a move for the Ivorian striker, who left the Liberty Stadium to join City in a £28m deal just two years ago.

Bony has since managed only eight goals in 46 appearances for the Citizens, with more than half of those outings coming from the bench, while he spent last season on loan at Stoke City.

Pep Guardiola is eager to offload the 28-year-old with a year still remaining on his contract, and BBC Sport reports that Besiktas have now joined Swansea in the race for his signature.

The Turkish champions are understood to be capable of offering Bony closer to his current £120,000-a-week wage, in addition to the prospect of Champions League football next season.

Besiktas have already brought in former Real Madrid centre-back Pepe this summer and could now look to add Bony to their squad ahead of the new season.
