Real Madrid move for Nigel de Jong

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in moving for Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong.

Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be readying a £20m bid for the Dutch international after contract talks stalled at the Etihad Stadium this summer. Negotiations are expected to resume in January as both player and club look to tie down a four-year deal.

Scouts from the La Liga side are understood to have watched the midfielder in the Citizens' recent Champions League game against Villareal.

De Jong has made 84 league appearances for the Manchester outfit since arriving at the club in 2008.
