Sporting Lisbon are reportedly set to trigger the release clause to sign Pedro Porro on a permanent deal from Manchester City.

Pedro Porro is reportedly set to leave Manchester City after Sporting Lisbon triggered the release clause for the 22-year-old.

The Spanish international joined the Citizens in 2019, but in the three years since his arrival, he has not made a single appearance for the club.

After spending a season with Real Valladolid, Porro joined Sporting on a two-year loan deal in 2020, which included an option to buy.

Following an impressive spell with the Portuguese giants, which has included a league title and a Portuguese League Cup win, Sporting are reportedly set to buy the 22-year-old.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sporting have triggered the €45m (£38.6m) release clause for the right-back, with the player expected to sign a three-year deal.

Despite losing Porro, City will reportedly have the option to buy the defender back for €20m (£17.1m).

Porro has made 33 appearances for Sporting this season, chipping in with four goals in that period.
