Manchester City keen to wrap up Maicon deal?

Manchester City are reportedly the frontrunners to sign Inter Milan defender Maicon.

The 31-year-old full-back was originally a top target for Champions League winners Chelsea but reports in Italy have claimed that City boss Roberto Mancini is eager to speed up a transfer of the Brazilian to the Etihad Stadium, according to talkSPORT.

It is understood that the Premier League champions will lodge a £5.2m bid for the defender, who was also thought to have been tracked by Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, it is believed that City have agreed a fee for 19-year-old Fiorentina defender Matija Nastasic.
