Man City and Liverpool are both planning bids for Lyon defender Aly Cissokho.
The 23-year-old is thought to be a key target for Roberto Mancini but has a hefty price tag of £20 million.
The Reds, meanwhile, have also made Cissokho a summer priority and view him as an "ideal replacement" for Paul Konchesky.
Cissokho joined Lyon from Porto in 2009 for £15 million and has managed one goal in 51 appearances.
