Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart says that it is "obvious" a solution to his future is required this summer as playing time will be limited at the Etihad Stadium.

Joe Hart has confirmed that he intends to leave Manchester City this summer on a permanent basis following two seasons out on loan.

The 31-year-old has failed to get a look-in since Pep Guardiola arrived at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, slipping behind Ederson and Claudio Bravo in the goalkeeping pecking order.

Hart was given a rare run-out in Saturday's pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund, which ended in defeat for the Citizens, but the England international acknowledges that playing time will be limited once the competitive action gets underway.

"I need to go somewhere permanent, I think that's obvious," Hart, who missed out on a place in England's World Cup squad, told reporters in Chicago. "I did what I did in the previous two seasons because I needed to play to be involved in the World Cup - and look where that got me.

"I'm experienced, I've played at the highest level for a long time and done a lot of things in the game. I need to be an important player at that club and I think that can only happen with a permanent move. Of course, if I don't find a solution which suits both parties, I'm contracted to Manchester City.

"I need to do what's right for me and my family and that's the decision I'll be making. It's a tough one, but it's a situation which will be resolved."

Hart spent the 2017-18 campaign with West Ham United, having previously been loaned to Torino in Italy for a year.
