Barcelona defender Dani Alves says that he 'would not spend a lot of money' on Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland.

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has said that he 'would not spend a lot of money' on Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland.

The 21-year-old is widely expected to leave BVB during this summer's transfer window, when a £67m release clause in his contract will become active.

However, a deal for the Norway international could eventually reach £300m, including agent fees and wages.

Barcelona are thought to be one of the clubs in the running for Haaland, but Alves has said that he would choose to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe over the BVB forward, who is also being strongly linked with a big-money switch to Manchester City.

"I wouldn't go all out for Haaland. Honestly, I wouldn't spend a lot of money on him," Alves told Mundo Deportivo. "On Mbappe yes, but not on Haaland. I'm playing sporting director, eh, but I'd go for Mbappe first, I think he's more complete in every aspect.

"If you're going to make a huge investment, you have to make it in the best. If it was up to me, I'd go for Mbappe. He's the best there is, and for Barcelona's style, at the moment, in football, there is no-one better than him."

Mbappe continues to be strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, but PSG are allegedly prepared to pay him a £150m signing-on fee to pen a new deal in the French capital.
