Sergio Aguero: 'I'll try to convince Lionel Messi to join Manchester City'

Sergio Aguero says that he will "certainly try to convince" Lionel Messi to join Manchester City, should his Argentina teammate leave Barcelona anytime soon.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has revealed that he will "try to convince" compatriot Lionel Messi to join the club.

The four-time Ballon d'Or winner has spent his entire senior career at Barcelona, although his Camp Nou future was recently thrown into doubt after he made claims that things are "complicated".

Man City are one of the many sides to have been linked with the Argentina forward's signature, and close friend Aguero has admitted that he would love to see his international teammate ply his trade alongside him in the Premier League.

"It's a tough ask. I'll try to convince him," Goal.com quotes the 26-year-old as saying. "You want the best players to be playing in the Premier League. I'll certainly try to convince him."

Messi has scored 17 goals in 18 games for Barcelona so far this season.
