Yaya Toure wins BBC's African award

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been crowned the BBC's African Footballer of the Year for the second time in three years.

The Ivory Coast international saw off competition from the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Andre Ayew, Sadio Mane and last year's winner Yacine Brahimi to take the title.

Toure's seventh inclusion on the shortlist also set a new record for number of appearances, and the powerful former Barcelona man picked up the gong on Friday in a special BBC World Service broadcast.

Toure, who first won the award back in 2013, is part of the City squad that hosts managerless Swansea City in the Premier League this afternoon.
