Report: Manchester City considered Angel di Maria swoop

Manchester City reportedly explored the idea of signing Angel di Maria from Manchester United, before completing their move for Raheem Sterling.

On Tuesday, City confirmed the signing of Sterling from Liverpool, with the England international inking a five-year deal at the Etihad.

According to The Telegraph, however, the former Premier League champions considered a move for Di Maria last week.

The same report claims that City were informed of Di Maria's desire to move away from the Premier League as his future with Man United remains unclear.

Di Maria has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
