Former Man City manager Peter Reid believes the current side are now favourites for the Premier League title after their victory over Man United.

Former Manchester City manager Peter Reid believes the Citizens are now favourites to win the Premier League after their 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United yesterday.

The victory moved City five points clear at the top of the table and although Reid admits it is still early in the season, he thinks Roberto Mancini's side are capable of dethroning their local rivals.

"You don't win anything in October but they are hard to beat and they have strength in depth," said Reid.

"There is a belief and a confidence from the manager and I think the players have got that as well."

Reid was manager at City between 1990 and 1993 and also made 103 playing appearances for the club.
