Vincent Kompany: 'Manchester City must improve'

Man City skipper Vincent Kompany admits that his side must improve from their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur but insists that they will not give up in the title race.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has insisted that his side will not give up in the title race, but admitted that they must improve following this afternoon's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Manuel Pellegrini's side have now fallen to back-to-back home defeats against title rivals in the Premier League to leave them six points adrift of leaders Leicester City.

However, they are the only side currently involved in the title race to have lifted the trophy in the past decade, and Kompany believes that they can draw on that experience.

"There is not a chance we will give up on the title. We have to improve," he told BBC Sport.

"We probably could have played a little bit better. Until the penalty, the game plan was OK and we were defending well.

"But we would be stupid to forget our history and how we react in those moments."

City are not back in Premier League action until March, with games in the FA Cup, Champions League and League Cup before their next top-flight outing.
