Adam Johnson aims to overcome double disappointment

Adam Johnson admits disappointment at missing out on Euro 2012 but aims to overturn disappointment at 2014 World Cup.

Manchester City midfielder Adam Johnson has revealed his disappointment at missing out on Euro 2012.

Johnson had been overlooked by his club boss Roberto Mancini during City's title run-in. However, despite his lack of action, Johnson believes that he should have gone to Euro 2012.

Johnson told Sky Sports News: "I will be honest and say I really think I should have been picked.

"To be fair, Roy has been brilliant with me and asked me to still train with the squad before the Euro's, but I will start my bid 2014 World Cup from now."

The 25-year-old made 26 league appearances for Manchester City last season, with the majority coming from the substitutes' bench.
