Mark Hughes has said that he is "delighted" for Mame Biram Diouf after the striker scored his first Premier League goal against Manchester City this afternoon.
The Stoke City forward netted the winner as the Potters claimed a 1-0 win over the defending champions at the Etihad Stadium.
The manager told Sky Sports News: "We're delighted for the man, because it's always important when you come to a new club that, especially when you're a striker, you want to get off and running as early as you can in terms of goalscoring.
"He was probably being a little bit hard on himself in the games he's played up to this point, but it was a fantastic goal. He took it from the edge of his own box and ran all the way through.
"It was a great goal for him and great for us. But it wasn't anything we didn't deserve. I felt by nature of the commitment of what we were trying to do, we deserved that one."
The result leaves Stoke ninth in the table.
