Pep Guardiola: 'Raheem Sterling now a match winner'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hails winger Raheem Sterling as a match-winning player following his winner against Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hailed winger Raheem Sterling as a match-winning player following his winner against Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

Sterling netted for Guardiola's side at the John Smith's Stadium, after winning a penalty that Sergio Aguero scored for their equaliser.

The England international, who has now scored 12 goals this term - a career best in a season - has also earned seven points for the club with contributions in the last 10 minutes of matches.

"He is young, still can improve but he made a big gap," Guardiola told the Manchester Evening News.

"He is winning games, now he's a winning player. Before he made good actions but now he is able to make winning games.

"We are in November, he has already broken the record so that is top. But not just in terms of goals, he is now strong, keeping the ball - before he would lose a lot of balls, now he is keeping the situation much much better, one against one to provoke fouls."

City's win over the Terriers extended their unbeaten run in the top flight this season.
