Pep Guardiola looking to break Jurgen Klopp goalscoring record against Leeds United

Guardiola looking to break Klopp goalscoring record against Leeds

Pep Guardiola will be hoping to break a Premier League goalscoring record when his Manchester City side welcome Leeds United to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Citizens currently sit at the top of the table and could potentially extend their respective one and two-point leads ahead of title rivals Liverpool and Chelsea if they secure all three points against Marcelo Bielsa's men.

Guardiola will be in the dugout for his 207th Premier League match since taking the reins in 2016, and in that time the Spaniard has seen his Man City side score an incredible 499 league goals.

Should the Sky Blues find the net against Leeds in midweek, Guardiola would see his team reach the 500-goal milestone in the fewest games, faster than the previous top-flight record set by Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, who recently scored their 500th league goal under the German in his 234th game in charge.

City are also closing in on 800 goals across all competitions under Guardiola, and they would reach that milestone in style if they were to hit Leeds for six on home soil.

The Citizens have scored in each of their last six meetings in all tournaments against Leeds, but they will be hoping to avoid a second successive home defeat against Bielsa's men on Tuesday, after suffering a 2-1 Premier League defeat in April.
