Phil Foden delighted with show of faith from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola

Midfielder Phil Foden says that constant communication with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is boosting his confidence ahead of the new campaign.

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has admitted that he was pleased to be told by Pep Guardiola that he was wanted at the Etihad Stadium next season.

Foden only turned 18 years of age in May, but the Englishman has already made 10 appearances in the first team for the Premier League champions.

Guardiola has openly stated that he plans to keep the teenager at the club for the upcoming campaign, and Foden has said that the stance of the Spaniard has boosted his belief in his own ability.

Foden is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "It gives me a lot of confidence that the manager wants to keep me.

"What advice has Pep given me? He's always talking to me and letting me know where I need to improve. I just listen to him and see what he can help me with and make me a better player."

Foden is currently with the City first team on their pre-season tour of the United States.
