The FA write to both Harry Redknapp and Roberto Mancini to seek an explanation for post-match comments directed at officials following a Boxing Day full of contentious decisions.

The Football Association have confirmed that they have written to Harry Redknapp and Roberto Mancini, asking them to explain comments made about match officials on Boxing Day.

Queens Park Rangers boss Redknapp blasted referee Chris Foy after he awarded West Bromwich Albion a contentious goal following a challenge on Rob Green.

The Hoops lost the match 2-1 and Redknapp was further angered when his side were not awarded a penalty after Liam Ridgewell appeared to handle in the box.

Mancini was critical of Kevin Friend's performance in Manchester City's defeat to Sunderland, saying that he "ate too much for Christmas" in a post-match tirade.

The FA will seek a response from both men before deciding whether to take disciplinary action against the pair.
