Willy Caballero: 'I can fill in for injured Joe Hart'

Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero insists that he is ready to fill in for the injured Joe Hart, who is expected to be sidelined for up to four weeks.

Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero has insisted that he is ready to fill in for Joe Hart following his injury against Manchester United on Sunday.

The City and England number one was stretchered off with a calf problem after clearing a short back-pass from Martin Demichelis in the opening stages of the second half in the derby.

Caballero replaced him for his first action since his penalty shootout heroics in the League Cup final last month, and with Hart sidelined for up to four weeks, he is hoping that he can take his chance in the first team once again.

"When I came here I knew what was going to be my situation," Caballero told reporters.

"But I came to play, so if I have the opportunity I try to take it and keep it. I try to do my best. I had opportunities in the cup and I have been training really well, so I think I am ready.

"I hope [Hart] recovers soon. We need him in this team because he is our first keeper. It is really important to be fit soon."

City went on to lose the Manchester derby 1-0, leaving them just one point ahead of West Ham United and Manchester United.
