Dedryck Boyata anticipates "really difficult" league defence

Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata admits that retaining the Premier League title represents a "tough" task as a result of their rivals' spending sprees.

Dedryck Boyata has conceded that Manchester City have a fight on their hands in order to defend the Premier League title this season.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have welcomed over £250m worth of talent between them to their respective clubs this summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Boyata admits that retaining their title represents a "really difficult" task as a result of their rivals' spending sprees.

"We know this year is going to be really difficult because a team like Arsenal has done everything in the transfer market to get the best players they can," he said.

"They have bought some good players and I think this year will be tough with Arsenal, Chelsea, United. It will be tough."

Manuel Pellegrini's side kick off the new league season with a visit to Newcastle United on Sunday.
