Asmir Begovic: 'We were unfortunate'

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic believes that his side were unfortunate to not get a result in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic believes that his side were unfortunate not to get a result in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

A second-half goal from Yaya Toure gave Manuel Pellegrini's side all three points in a tight game at the Etihad Stadium.

Begovic admitted that it was a tough game for his side, but feels as though his side were unfortunate not to get a bit of luck that could have given them a result to take back to the Britannia Stadium.

"It was a tough game. We stuck to the gameplan as good as we could. It is always difficult coming here against Man City and the quality they have," he said, according to ITV Sport.

"We were unfortunate we didn't get that bit of luck to get a result. But we stuck at it. The commitment and energy was great by the players.

"If we continue like that for the rest of the season I'm sure we'll be okay. It's very tight. A couple of results here and there can make a big difference. We will take heart from the performance, take the positives and move on to next week - Arsenal at home."

The Potters currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League table.
