Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero insists that he was not 'angered' by Pep Guardiola's decision to drop him from the lineup against Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has insisted that he had no problem with manager Pep Guardiola after he was dropped from the lineup for the team's Champions League trip to Barcelona.

The Argentine started as a substitute for City's 4-0 defeat at Camp Nou, which led to questions over his long-term future at the Premier League outfit.

Guardiola explained that his decision to drop Aguero was purely tactical as he wanted a packed midfield, with Kevin De Bruyne playing further forward as a false nine.

Since returning to the first XI, Aguero scored twice in a 4-0 triumph over West Bromwich Albion and he played a pivotal role in City's first ever victory over Barcelona on Tuesday evening.

"I'm never angry. I respect every manager's decision," The Mirror quotes Aguero as saying. "He said it was a tactical thing and I obviously respect that.

"When I went in the pitch I tried to give my best and then train hard to be ready for the next game, but no-one was in a bad mood.

"I've experienced many different important nights, and [the win over Barcelona] was another one that not only me but the whole team enjoyed. We also could feel the support from the fans, and that was important for our confidence. It was a nice game for the memories."

City are currently second in Group C of the Champions League, two points behind Barca.
