Manchester City to rest Joe Hart for Capital One Cup semi-final against Everton

Manuel Pellegrini confirms that goalkeeper Joe Hart will be rested for tomorrow night's Capital One Cup semi-final against Everton.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that goalkeeper Joe Hart will not feature in Wednesday's Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Everton at the Etihad Stadium.

The England number one will be rested for the fixture, with City trailing 2-1 from the first leg.

"Willy Caballero will probably start the next two games," Pellegrini told reporters. "One of the important reasons why Joe Hart improves a lot is because he has competition. Willy deserves to play these games."

Pellegrini also provided an update on the fitness of Vincent Kompany, who is expected to return in a "couple of weeks".

The Belgium international has not played since Boxing Day when he suffered a calf injury.

"I think Vincent Kompany will return in a couple of weeks," Pellegrini told reporters. "We are doing all we can, sending him to different places and doctors to try and make sure it doesn't happen because it is very sad for him not to play."

City are currently second in the Premier League table, three points behind leaders Leicester City.
