Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Newcastle United

Man City injury, suspension list vs. Newcastle

Fresh from suffering Champions League semi-final heartache, Manchester City will resume their Premier League campaign against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

The Citizens recorded a 4-3 victory over Real Madrid in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium last week but lost 3-1 in the second leg on Wednesday to suffer a 6-5 aggregate defeat at Bernabeu.

Pep Guardiola's side ran out 4-0 winners over Leeds United in the Premier League last weekend, though, which left them one point clear of second-placed Liverpool at the summit.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the English side's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Newcastle, who currently sit 10th in the table.

Kyle Walker

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: May 8 (vs. Newcastle)

Kyle Walker started against Real Madrid on Wednesday amid his injury issues but had to be withdrawn in the 72nd minute after suffering another problem, and it is difficult to imagine him playing this weekend.

John Stones

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: May 8 (vs. Newcastle)

John Stones was again absent on Wednesday due to the issue that he picked up in the first leg against Real Madrid, and he remains a doubt for the clash with Newcastle.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Benjamin Mendy

Possible return date: Unknown

Subject to a police charge, left-back Benjamin Mendy remains suspended by the Citizens.
