Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Man City injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Manchester City take on the side that last week dethroned them as Premier League champions when they play host to Liverpool on Thursday.

The Citizens' 800-plus-day reign as England's top club may be over following defeat to Chelsea, but they are still on course to finish the season as treble winners.

Having already won the EFL Cup in March, City beat Newcastle United 2-0 on Sunday to advance to the FA Cup semi-finals, where Arsenal await next month.

Pep Guardiola's men are also 2-1 up against Real Madrid after the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, with the reverse fixture scheduled for August.

City will also been keen to end the Premier League season on a high, starting with victory over newly-crowned champions Liverpool this week.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Sergio Aguero has undergone surgery on a knee injury he aggravated during the recent win over Burnley and is now set to miss a significant chunk of the remainder of the season.

Eric Garcia

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Head Possible return date: July 2 (vs. Liverpool)

Eric Garcia needed lengthy treatment after a collision with Ederson in Man City's first game back. The centre-back has served the recommended time to recover from concussion, but Guardiola may not want to throw him back in just yet.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Fernandinho

Return date: July 5 (vs. Southampton)

Fernandinho was sent off in the defeat to Chelsea and is serving the second match of his two-game ban.
