Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero's phenomenal record vs. Watford

Sergio Aguero's record vs. Watford

Manchester City have the chance to temporarily move four points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table when they host Watford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Having overturned what was at one point a seven-point deficit, City now lead the way with only nine games of the campaign remaining and could take advantage of Liverpool playing a day later to extend their lead.

Premier League top-scorer Sergio Aguero has been a major reason behind City's title charge this season, netting 18 times to increase his all-time scoring record for the club.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the deadly Argentine has fared against the Hornets in the past.

Against no other team does Aguero have as good a strike rate as he does against Watford, scoring 10 goals in just six previous meetings and directly contributing to two per game on average.

The 30-year-old missed the reverse fixture in December due to injury, but he has scored seven goals in his last four games against the Hornets, including a hat-trick at Vicarage Road last season.

That is one of two hat-tricks Aguero has managed in this fixture during his City career, having also bagged one at the Etihad Stadium in the 2013-14 FA Cup fourth round.

Aguero has only failed to score in one of his six games against Saturday's opponents, although interestingly just one of his goals has come in league games at home - compared to six and two assists in three such away games.

City have won every game they have played against Watford during Aguero's time at the club, though, and they will be overwhelming favourites to do so again this weekend.
