Manuel Pellegrini: 'Fans were right to boo'

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has claimed that fans of the club were right to boo the Champions League anthem before their 2-1 win over Sevilla.

The Citizens are being investigated by UEFA after fans jeered during the anthem as a protest against the European governing body's Financial Fair Play rules.

City could be charged over the incident, but Pellegrini has said that supporters should be allowed to voice their opinions.

"I think everyone has the right to boo or protest on different things," Pellegrini told reporters.

"If they boo then they feel there's something UEFA is not doing right."

City captain Vincent Kompany recently described UEFA's investigation as a "joke".
