Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Atletico Madrid

Man City injury, suspension list vs. Atletico Madrid

Manchester City continue their bid for a maiden Champions League crown with the first leg of their quarter-final with Atletico Madrid at the Etihad on Tuesday night.

Pep Guardiola's men saw off Sporting Lisbon 5-0 on aggregate to make it this far, with all five goals coming on the Portuguese champions' turf before a goalless stalemate in Manchester in the second leg.

The Citizens were briefly knocked off the top of the Premier League table by Liverpool on Saturday, but it would only be for a couple of hours, as Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan were on target in a 2-0 win at Burnley.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the first leg with Atletico, who have already dumped Manchester United out of this season's tournament.

Ruben Dias

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: April 13 (vs. Atletico)

Key defender Ruben Dias sustained a serious hamstring issue at the beginning of last month, and Guardiola has affirmed that the club are not prepared to rush him back before the initial six-week period, so he may have to wait until the second leg for his comeback.

Cole Palmer

Status: Out Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: Unknown

Youngster Cole Palmer was making strong progress in his recovery from a serious ankle injury but has since suffered a setback, and it is unclear when the 19-year-old may be ready to return amid talk of surgery.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Kyle Walker

Status: Out Possible return date: April 10 (vs. Liverpool)

Kyle Walker received his marching orders in City's final group match against RB Leipzig - with Guardiola labelling the defender's red card as "stupid" - and he will serve the final match of a three-game European ban here.

Benjamin Mendy

Possible return date: Unknown

Subject to a police charge, left-back Benjamin Mendy remains suspended by the Citizens.
