Yunus Malli thankful for Mainz backing

Yunus Malli admits that the backing he receives from Mainz 05 is crucial after his hat-trick in the 3-1 win over Hoffenheim.

Yunus Malli has claimed that Mainz 05 are being rewarded for putting their faith in him for the past few seasons.

Inconsistent displays often prevented the attacker from hitting top form for an extended spell, but he delivered the goods on Friday night to score a hat-trick in his side's 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim.

It took Malli's tally for the season to five goals and he was quick to thank the club for their backing.

"I'm feeling good, I've got a lot of freedom here and have an environment in which I can develop," he told the Bundesliga website. "I sense the coach, the team and the club are behind me. I needed time and that's what they gave me here. I'm really grateful for that."

Mainz return to action against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night.
