Victor Valdes 'on the verge of Liverpool switch'

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is allegedly on the verge of joining Liverpool.

The ex-Spain international will undergo a medical with the Premier League side during next weekend's international break, according to The Express.

Valdes is a free agent, meaning that he is free to find a club outside of the transfer window.

The goalkeeper, who could soon be competing with Simon Mignolet for first-team football at Anfield, held talks with Monaco over the summer, but the deal was scuppered when he suffered cruciate ligament damage.
