Maxi Rodriguez heading for Newell's Old Boys?

Argentinian club Newell's Old Boys have claimed that they have reached a deal to sign Liverpool midfielder Maxi Rodriguez.

However, the 31-year-old still has to cut his ties with the Reds before the transfer can be finalised.

"We are waiting for official news about the end of Maxi's link [with Liverpool]. There is an ongoing contact and we have a deal agreed with him," the club's secretary Pablo Morosano told Ole.

"But as long as his exit from Liverpool has not been settled, we cannot announce it."

Rodriguez began his career with the Old Boys back in 1999.
