Liverpool to miss out on Eljero Elia?

Schalke 04 are thought to be leading the race to sign Juventus winger Eljero Elia.

The 25-year-old, who only arrived in Turin last summer for £8m, is believed to be on the verge of leaving the Bianconeri after making only four Serie A appearances.

Liverpool are said to be interested in the Dutch international, but Tuttojuve reports that the managerial instability at Anfield has handed the initiative to the Bundesliga outfit.

Elia, who has 26 caps for his country, moved from Hamburg to join Juventus.
