Liverpool reportedly remain hopeful of keeping hold of star attacker Mohamed Salah beyond the summer of 2023.

The 30-year-old's long-term future at Anfield has been questioned in recent months, with his current contract set to expire in 12 months' time.

Despite one report claiming that Liverpool are braced for the prospect of Salah leaving for free next summer, the Liverpool Echo states that the Egyptian has indicated that he would like to stay at Anfield and the Reds are also keen to see the attacker pen a new contract.

However, Liverpool are currently unwilling to break their wage structure and feel that such a move could have consequences in the future with regards to negotiating new deals with current players or new signings.

The report adds that Liverpool will continue to benefit commercially if they keep hold of Salah, who is regarded as one of the world's most renowned Muslim athletes.

Salah, who has previously been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester City, has developed into a world-class attacker under Jurgen Klopp since arriving at Liverpool in 2017, recording 156 goals and 63 assists in 254 appearances for the club across all competitions.
