Liverpool step up interest in Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul?

Liverpool have reportedly identified Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul as a potential January transfer target.

Injuries to key defenders have led to the Premier League champions being heavily linked with a new centre-back at the midway point of the campaign.

However, with Georginio Wijnaldum's future still up in the air, Jurgen Klopp is also having to consider his options in midfield.

According to The Sun, Liverpool hold an interest in De Paul, who has been linked with a switch to Leeds United over the past six months.

The Argentine has starred in Serie A this season, contributing three goals and one assist from his 15 appearances in Italy's top flight.

Udinese allegedly value the 26-year-old at £40m, an increase from his £35m asking price last year.
