Liverpool are not ruling out the possibility of Marko Grujic staying at the club when his loan spell at Porto comes to an end, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly open to keeping Marko Grujic on the books for the 2021-22 campaign.

The 25-year-old made the switch to Anfield from Red Star Belgrade in 2016, but in that time he has been shipped out on loan to Cardiff City, Hertha Berlin and most recently Porto, where he is currently plying his trade.

Grujic has only ever made 16 appearances for Liverpool in the five years that he has been contracted to the club, but according to the Liverpool Echo, Anfield chiefs have not ruled out the possibility of the midfielder staying for next season.

Georginio Wijnaldum looks set to leave the club when his deal runs out at the end of the current campaign, and James Milner will be 36 in 2022, so the report adds that Liverpool will hold discussions with Grujic and Porto over his future this summer.

However, if the £20m-rated Serbia international does leave, several clubs in Europe - particularly in the Bundesliga and Serie A - are supposedly willing to battle it out for his signature.

Grujic has chalked up 29 appearances in all competitions for Sergio Conceicao's side this term, although he has started just four games in the Portuguese top flight.
