Liverpool loan deal for Arthur 'contains buy option'

Liverpool reportedly have the option to make Arthur Melo's season-long loan move a permanent transfer.

The Reds moved for Arthur on deadline day after Jordan Henderson sustained a hamstring injury in Wednesday's victory over Newcastle United on Wednesday.

With Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also sidelined, Liverpool looked to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window closed.

Liverpool opted to sign Arthur on a season-long loan from Juventus, with both clubs previously denying that the agreement contains a purchase clause.

However, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have revealed that the deal contains an option to buy following the conclusion of the loan spell for a €37.5m (£32.4m) fee.

After making 63 appearances for Juventus since arriving from Barcelona 2020, Arthur could make his Liverpool debut against Everton in Saturday's Merseyside derby.
