Liverpool want Fabinho to sign a new long-term contract at the club, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Liverpool are reportedly determined to sign Fabinho to a new long-term contract at the club.

The 27-year-old has made 111 appearances for the Reds since arriving from Monaco in July 2018, including 31 outings in all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign.

Fabinho still has more than two years left to run on his current deal at Anfield, but according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the English champions want the Brazil international to pen fresh terms.

"Their priority looking at the transfer window will be extending contracts, as we say [Virgil] van Dijk is one of the topics, but Fabinho. Keep an eye on Fabinho because Liverpool are pushing, they want to make a proposal to Fabinho, they are so, so happy with him," Romano said on his Here We Go Podcast.

"Jurgen Klopp is in love with Fabinho, so they are working to extend his contract and Fabinho is happy at Liverpool."

Fabinho has suffered with hamstring and muscular injuries this term but has been a key player for the Reds, largely operating as a central defender due to the team's issues in that area of the field.
